Maxi-Mind  - Contents:

Maxi-Mind  has been developed as the nutritional approach for children with hyperactivity, concentration problems, poor attention span and poor memory.

Maxi-Mind can also be used by adults who need some brain power and mental sharpness. It is also suitable for  those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.

According to Patrick Holford, world renowned nutritionist, a nutritional approach is 18 times more effective than drug treatment for hyperactivity.

The approach is as follows:

  1. Provide a constant level of glucose (blood sugar) in the blood to enter the cells and get it converted to energy. This is attained by a proper diet with foods that release glucose in the blood at a constant rate. Junk foods need to be avoided as they can produce irregular blood sugar levels and the body will then produce excess insulin that will convert excess sugar to fat (onset of obesity) or  the body will produce adrenalin (onset of irritability, insomnia, restlessness, anxiety or extreme fears).
  2. Provide nutrients to build new cells and protect the existing cells.
  3. Provide nutrients to help convert glucose to energy as well as help carry glucose and oxygen from the blood into the cells.
  4. Provide nutrients to produce neurotransmitters and receptors to the neurotransmitters in the nervous system.
  5. Provide nutrients (antioxidants) that will disarm neuro-toxins (free radicals) before they destroy the neurotransmitters, their receptors and the covering sheaths around the nerves.
  6. Provide nutrients that enable the body to adapt to changes in stress levels without affecting the normal functioning of the cells and transmission of nerve impulses. These nutrients are known as adaptogens.

Maxi-Mind should be taken together with a balanced diet, a good multi vitamin and mineral (Maxi Life) and Essential Fatty Acids (omega 3 and 6 oils)

Maxi-Mind  is in a fruit powder form containing the following ingredients that address the nutritional approach mentioned above:

  • DMAE
Part of the neurotransmitter Acetylcholine – which improves concentration and mental sharpness
DMAE accelerates the production of acetylcholine

  • Choline
Part of every cell membrane in the brain, part of every nerve membrane and nerve cell.
Part of the building block of the neurotransmitter Acetylcholine – for concentration and mental sharpness
Choline is essential in the structure of the cell membranes that are key for the recognition, reception and relay of neurotransmitters.
When choline levels are low, the body grabs choline from the nerve cells (cannibalizes) to make more acetylcholine – onset of Alzheimers disease.

  • Glutamine
Part of the ingredients to make acetylcholine
  • Phenylalinine
An amino acid that helps with the making and conversion of neurotransmitters (dopamine)
Dopamine is the motivation neurotransmitter – makes one feel good, motivated and better able to deal with stress
Improves physical and mental performance under stress – gives one the edge in conditions of stress
Helps balance other neurotransmitters to prevent over activity and highly strung from stress

  • Acetyl L-Carnitine
Increases production of acetylcholine and dopamine
  • Vitamin B1 (Thiamine)
    Prevents confusion, forgetfulness and depression
Essential to convert glucose to energy – works together with potassium

  • Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)
Carries oxygen from the blood cells to the energy production cells (mitochondria)
  • Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide)
    Improves energy production

  • Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid)
Needed as part of an enzyme to convert DMAE to Acetylcholine

  • Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)
    Activates thinking and memory skills

  • Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamine)
Prevents nerve damage by maintaining the fatty sheath (protective covering) that surrounds the nerves

  • Folic Acid
Together with Vit B3, B6 and B12, it controls a vital function in the formation of almost all neurotransmitters.
It helps with the conversion of neurotransmitters when needed which can prevent unwanted conditions such as sleeplessness, over activity, depression, blues, anxiety, poor concentration, etc.

  • Vitamin C
    Helps balance neurotransmitters
    An essential anti oxidant

  • Vitamin E
    An essential antioxidant
  • Vitamin A
    An essential antioxidant
Vitamin A, C and E work together to be effective in their antioxidant properties.

  • Potassium
Essential to convert glucose to energy – works together with Vit B1

  • Zinc
Deficiency of zinc creates confusion and dementia
Essential to keep neurotransmitters in a balanced state

  • Magnesium
    Helps with circulation
Prevents calcification  from eroding the brain cells
    Relaxes the cells

  • Chromium
Facilitates the transport of glucose into the cells

  • Ginseng
Has calming effects – helps cope with exam stress

  • Ginko Biloba
Improves blood circulation and increases blood supply which is essential to carry all nutrients so they arrive at all the cells.
Improves the brain’s ability to utilize glucose = enhanced energy
Potent antioxidant – protects the red blood cells from free radical damage and ensures the safe passage of oxygen to the brains
    Helps relieve anxiety
  • Green Tea
Has anti oxidant properties that protects brain cells from any damage by toxins
  • Vitamins and Minerals
    Helps turn glucose into energy
Helps turn amino acids into neurotransmitters
Helps to convert essential fatty acids into essential hormones for brain activity
Helps to build and rebuild the brain and nervous system
  • Essential Fatty Acids
Omega 3 and Omega 6 – Essential for the structure of the cells and its membrane – makes up 70% of the membrane.
Ensure it is supplied in the diet to enable the nutrients in Maxi-Mind to function optimally.

Drugs

Drugs are toxic, without exception. They produce dietary deficiencies by destroying nutrients, using them up, preventing their absorption, increasing their excretion, or chemically taking their place.

The amount of Vitamin C in the blood falls dramatically when drugs are taken; 800mg is destroyed from 1 drug taken.

All drugs by their toxicity induce a condition of stress in the body which automatically increases the need for Vit C, B5, BComplex, E and Protein .

Ritalin (Methylphenidate): structurally and pharmacologically similar to cocaine.

Visit www.childrensrights.co.za  for more information on Ritalin, its side effects, links to drug addiction and abuse potential

It takes half an hour to raise dopamine levels (smoked or injected cocaine has the same effect within seconds). Ritalin does not address the area of acetylcholine, it only addresses dopamine – the feel good and motivation neurotransmitter. Dopamine gets converted to adrenalin (a brain neurotransmitter).

Lack of Vitamin B3, B12 and Folic acid will cause adrenalin to be converted to adrenochrome – a very toxic substance to the brain that causes hallucinations.

Ref: Patrick Holford - Optimum Nutrition for the Mind

Alzheimer’s disease -  Deficiency in Acetylcholine – an inflammatory disease with the presence of plaques or patches of dead cells and other waste material in the brain. Also excess cortisol, from stress, shrivels the dendrites, the connections  between the brain cells.

Parkinson’s disease - Dopamine deficiency – neurons that produce dopamine don’t work properly due to either:

  • Lack of enzymes to convert amino acids to dopamine, or
  • Neurons die off or are damaged by free radicals or environmental toxins - pesticides, herbicides

Contra indications - If one is on any form of psychiatric drugs, anti depressants, etc, one should consult with one’s physician before taking Maxi- Mind

Maximum Immunity - Contents

Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) An essential vitamin which is the main ingredient in producing cortisone based hormones (from the adrenal glands) to reduce inflammations. Without B5 (which gets depleted and doesn’t get replaced when under stress), acute (temporary) inflammations then become chronic (ongoing). Vitamin B5 has shown excellent properties in releasing phlegm in tight chests, which makes it a good and permanent expectorant. Vitamin B5 is essential in energy production. Lack of results in tiredness and lethargy, low blood pressure and low blood sugar.

Vitamin C Protects the adrenal glands from being destroyed by the damaging effects of stress Is the catalyst in the production of collagen. Collagen is part of the tissues that maintain the cells in place. Strong collagen prevents any virus or bacteria to travel from one cell to the other. Vitamin C is a natural antibiotic. It is also an anti oxidant and is useful in neutralizing toxins and allergens in the body. Blocks the activity of viruses and stops their rapid multiplication.

L-Lysine An essential part of producing new collagen Lysine has the property of blocking the damage caused by enzymes that digest collagen. Digested collagen then allows viruses and bacteria to travel from one cell to the next. Viruses need to enter a cell so they can multiply. While multiplying, they destroy the host cell they used.

Vitamin C and Lysine are big role players in preventing bruising

Vitamin B2 – part of the conversion processes in the production of collagen or adrenal hormones

Vitamin B6 - part of the conversion processes in the production of collagen or adrenal hormones

Vitamin E – an essential antioxidant working together with selenium and zinc

Zinc – essential element for the functioning of the immune system and for enzyme activity

Selenium – an antioxidant necessary for the immune system and for enzyme activity

Enzymes – Bromelain Plays a key role in digesting foods before they enter the blood stream. Undigested foods in the blood are the source of allergies and enzymes can prevent that from happening. Enzymes taken on an empty stomach can be beneficial in digesting undigested foods in the blood stream. Also helps with the absorption of other nutrients, vitamins, etc.. Enzymes and Co-Enzymes - Enzymes cannot act alone to produce the desired results. They need co-enzymes to be fully active. The most important co-enzymes are B-Complex, Vit C, Vit E and Zinc.

Maximum Immunity works best when taken with immune boosting herbs. The herbs stimulate the key organs of the immune system to call for the necessary nutrients to make up the immune hormones and substances. Maximum Immunity provides those nutrients. The herbs also block the activity and multiplication of the viruses, bacteria, parasites that are causing the illnesses and diseases.

Use Astra Life which is a combination of immune boosting herbs – Astragalus and Andrographis – a combination that is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic and anti-inflammatory.
